Permission was given for Fouroneohfever (IRE), Siempre Arturo (GB), Dream Harder (IRE), and Saturn Five (IRE) to all wear a red hood to the start.
Leaving the stalls, the winner, Paddy The Squire (GB) jumped right-handed inconveniencing Siempre Arturo (GB), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Paddy The Squire (GB).
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference turning into the home straight when the winner, Paddy The Squire (GB), ridden by Andrew Mullen, interfered with Austrian Theory (IRE), placed second, ridden by David Allan.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Paddy The Squire (GB)’s placing as the incident occurred approximately 1½ furlongs out and the ground and momentum lost by Austrian Theory (IRE) was deemed to be less than the official margin of ½ a length.
The Stewards therefore ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
Mullen was cautioned for careless riding as he failed to take sufficient steps to prevent his horse from rolling left-handed causing Austrian Theory (IRE) to become short of room, resulting in Allan briefly having to check his mount.
Inside the final ½ furlong, Box To Box (IRE), unplaced, hung quickly right-handed causing Paradoxical (IRE), unplaced, to be checked in its run, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Following the race, Warren Fentiman reported that Paradoxical (IRE), unplaced, suffered interference inside the final ½ furlong and Jim Crowley reported that Siempre Arturo (GB), unplaced, was never travelling.
