Amenita strong in the market and at the finish
She did it nicely and got a lovely ride from Chris Hayes, he rode her with confidence and just produced her in the last furlong. I think she’ll go another furlong. She settled nicely for him and when he pulled her out, she settled it pretty quickly. We’ll see how she comes out of the race before we make any decisions for her.
Petite pops up at 50/1
We went hurdling during the winter and she’s too small and was just too afraid,. We might go back over hurdles when the ground gets very quick during the summer. She lost her way over the winter, she wants nice ground. Niall McCullagh rode her the last day over a mile-and-a-half. We stuck cheekpieces on her and she was too free. He said ‘go back to a mile’ and stick the cheekpieces back on her. So we’ve him to thank. This was the first opportunity that came along. Myself and the owner were running out of time and this was her last chance today. It was great and the young lad gave her a grand ride. It was lovely to get a win out of her. She’s a half-sister to Rightsotom, who won for me and went to England, and there are a couple of nice horses in the pedigree. She’s earned her keep for a while more anyway. You never know, now that she’s got her head in front now she might come along because her pedigree suggests that she should be better than that.
Obscenity passes virtually whole field to score
He did well because we lost our spot early, I think he was a bit sluggish away from the gate and we ended up out of position a bit. Luckily, there was a good enough tempo on and he was able to come from where he was. He had a good run the last day and he backed it up today. He’s 78 today, so he’ll be 85 or so the next day, that puts him into a ‘90’ or something like that. There might be something for him Derby weekend. We’ll speak to PJ (Colville) and the team and see. I think a mile-and-a-half is nice for him and he likes top of the ground.
Thrifty Of Digby finds plenty for Foley
She’s some tough, brave, filly. She wasn’t going to get beaten, she kept on putting her head down. They took her on early on as well. She really is great. She only got it on the nod and for once it’s gone the right way for me!. She’s actually in the online sale, but we might keep her now. She loves Roscommon and here, and she goes from seven furlongs to a mile-and-a-quarter. There might be another day in her but she’s getting her rating up now.
