Probably shouldn't have brought him to Galway. We all wanted to go and we all love Galway, but it wasn't his trip and I said to the lads we are turning a sprinter into a seven-furlong horse. The last day in the Curragh, the ground was very quick that day and he didn't seem to handle it, but he's a fair horse. He's as good a sprinter as I've had in a long, long time. He's very fast. He's in the Ayr Gold Cup, but he's in the Bold Lad (Curragh) as well. We'll see, it will be either one. There will be loads of opportunities for him after that. I'm delighted to have him and I'm lucky to have him. He was very unlucky over five (furlongs) up the Curragh on Derby weekend. I'll just wipe off the last day. He should have won in Newbury. He's well able to hold his own. We were toying with coming here today or going to Ripon for a hundred grand race. Probably the way he won there, he wouldn't have been too far away (in Ripon). I'm delighted we stayed here for the lads.

He was very unlucky in Galway, he was probably going to be placed in the race on the Friday and got interfered with late on. He wasn't beaten overly far on kind of poached ground which wouldn't be ideal for him. It was a small entry for this, and he had only ever run once on the all-weather. He's done it quite well, so I'm delighted for the lads. He ran in Leopardstown and made absolutely ridiculous fractions that day in front in the ladies' race and still ran a great race. He's a great money-spinner and he's very honest. He will go back over hurdles - he wants top of the ground, and he never really got it over hurdles. He was third behind Talk The Talk in a maiden (Limerick). He's a nice horse. He's a very happy horse and he likes getting out to the field and maybe just enjoys our smaller establishment. We'll go as long as the ground is fairly quick. When the ground kind of goes on us, we will stop with him.

Copper Craft Takes Dundalk Finale

He likes fast ground. He got it fast one day in Navan when we had blinkers on him and it was the first time he showed it on the grass. He was just collared by a horse (Arch Enemy) late home. We ran him back quickly (in Ballinrobe) but, when he met the yielding ground, he just wouldn't go. We just waited for here. Now he's a horse that has his own mind, so you could never really trust him but, on his previous form and how he has been working at home, we thought he had a chance today. There was a wee bit of a melee halfway up the straight where he was going for a gap and it closed and then the horse in front stopped on him, he (Whearty) said. Robert gave him a nice ride. He picked up after that lost momentum. Dundalk will be starting soon, so we will keep him for a fast surface and see what happens.
