The winner, Cornerstone Lad (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous race at Wetherby on 27 December 2021, where the gelding finished fifth of six, beaten by 28 lengths, in a Class 2 Handicap Chase.
Micky Hammond’s explanation that Cornerstone Lad (GB) benefited from a drop in class to a Class 3, and was suited by the re-application of cheekpieces was noted.
Cornerstone Lad (GB) was routine tested.
