She was third in a barrier trial at Dundalk. I was probably disappointed on the day but I think it was the quickest of the seven-furlong races and knowing Ronan (Whelan)’s weight she was probably giving the two colts who finished in front of her weight. She’s improved and we were very hopeful coming here today. She was doing everything right and is probably still a bit raw and green. Hopefully she can take another step forward. It wasn’t the plan but I told Leigh if there was no one to go on, you have a good draw in three and don’t give away your position. He was good on her and a homebred winner is important for me. It’s a great family - that’s the fourth runner and four winners. They are all multiple winners too so hopefully she can follow the line.

She should have finished third or fourth in Fairyouse the last day but the saddle slipped. Our runner in the previous race (Black Bridie) was working better and finished last. They were working together so I was a nervous wreck as I couldn’t understand how the last horse ran so bad. She handles the ground and is a grand little filly. The last winner I had for Sean (Maguire, from Newry) was in a hunters chase twenty years ago.

I thought being on 76 was a bad rating for her but the visor really helped her. The last day she missed the kick in Tipperary and never got into the race. We put the visor on her today and I said to Shane be brave, bunk her out as the pace is holding up all day here. I’m delighted for the owners who have been great supporters and 13 runs later she has finally won a race for us. She has always promised to do this and hopefully we will get another day out of her. She handles that ground.
