Tam Lin scores at rewarding odds of 14/1
It was a great ride. He's a funny horse; he probably got a bit fed up in Dundalk. He only had to make up a length on the favourite. I said to Shane, 'outside draw here and sneak away', but I have to say an exceptionally good ride there. The horse is thriving and is going into a big horse now. He was racing in December off 450kgs body weight and today we threw him on the scales going racing and he's 480kgs. Shane said to me that he is well handicapped, and he will win again. This will keep my mother happy!
Rockbury Lad benefits from cool Coen ride
Aurora Nova bounces back to form after winter break
She was very good and consistent last year, and then she had a bad run in the Naas, so we gave her a break after that. She went up an awful lot in the weights and probably struggled, but she dropped 7lb over the winter. He (Joyce) did well to get her across. She won a bit too far for the handicapper, but we will enjoy getting a winner today, and hopefully the handicapper won't be too hard on her. Great for the owners (Dreams Of Glory Racing Syndicate), it is their first winner. First of many, hopefully.
Speedy Emerald keeps the ball rolling for Murtagh
Ben says she’s quick. She learned as she went along last year, and I suppose for a three-year-old it is hard. We are hoping she can improve a little bit more this year as a four-year-old. Loved the ground and hit the road well, and she just found that little bit in the last bit. She is very game, and she is very honest.
Eastern Wind blows strong up in trip
I had her in the mile race and I was looking at the entries and I said a small field in this mile and a-half might be worth having a go, so I took her out of the mile and switched into this. She ran in a hurdle race there about five or six weeks ago in Navan and she was grinding it out well in heavy ground. From that point of view, I thought there was a good chance she would get the trip. She's down to a lovely mark and we will mess around over hurdles with her as well over the summer. She was running a lovely race in Navan and unfortunately got brought down. That gives us more options and hopefully she will be a bit of fun through the summer. She will go on any ground as well. It is good to get off the cold list as well. We had a very good year last year; we had 17 winners between everything up until the end of November. With the horse we have, they are going to reach their ceiling.
Meade & Keane take finale with Mick Collins
He's a lovely big horse, track a bit tight for him. He's a horse that will jump hurdles and wouldn't be surprised if he jumps fences in time as he's a huge, big horse. Always thought a lot of him, but his mind is a little bit buzzed. He's hard to keep settled. We got there and that's a new owner, so it's great.
