Swashbuckling success for Edward Thatch
he is a nice horse and we think a lot of him. The first day (at the Curragh) he went fast but today he settled well and kept it simple. He won comfortably in the end. I think he could be a seven-furlong or mile-type in the end and I’m very happy with everything he has done today, including his attitude. Hopefully he will improve and we have a nice horse. I think he will run next in the Marble Hill Stakes (Curragh over six furlongs, late-May) and then we will think about the Coventry at Royal Ascot. He got away with five furlongs today being on slower ground but on faster ground, it will have to be six for him. He is a big two-year-old and I’m happy with his attitude.
Samurai Mike scores for Hong Kong connections
he had been working solidly all spring and is a nice horse. He is owned by Mr Chu, who lives in Hong Kong and I’d imagine this horse will end up going there sooner rather than later. He was just a little bit gross last winter so we gelded him and with him eventually going to Hong Kong, that doesn’t really matter. He is a smart horse though and I’d have been disappointed if he had finished third today.
Flynn's bargain-buy completes hat-trick
the story is now well known about me buying this horse at the sales, as while there were about 500 horses there, this fella walked by and I said to my wife Catherine that ‘that is a racehorse’. He was also by Acclamation so I bought him. I might look for a race at Royal Ascot now and I think he is a seven-furlongs horse so will look at the Buckingham Palace Stakes. I thought the mile was too long for him the last day, so at Ascot it would definitely be too long. It would appear he needs easy ground at the moment so fast ground at Ascot would be a concern but we’ll see, and if anyone wants a runner at Royal Ascot, they can find my number. If you wouldn’t buy this horse, what would they buy!

Johnny Soda gains breakthrough success
he is a lovely horse who we bought in the breeze-ups last year and after finishing second in a Dundalk maiden last winter, Adam (Caffrey, jockey then) got off him and said not to run him back there again as he wants a little juice in the ground. Even though he is by Cotai Glory, I’d say he is a 1m2f horse. Not many of his progeny end up jumping, but you could see this horse in that sphere as he is 16.2hh and is gorgeous big horse. He is massive and if you looked at him in the ring, you’d think he was a point-to-pointer. I think there’ll be another big day on the Flat with him and he could end up in Galway.
