Cromwell’s Springt De La Mare win Fairyhouse’s opener
he couldn’t win a hurdle race but he jumped very well for his first run over fences and just looks like a chaser. It’s nice to get a win with him again, everything went nicely for him. I just don’t know how much further he’d want: we tried going up in trip with him but he didn’t stay. I wouldn’t be afraid to go a little bit further but I don’t know if he’s a three-miler, maybe in time he will be. I’ve no plan, we’ll see what the handicapper does and maybe look at a novice handicap.
Dempsey delivers with consecutive runners
that was great - Clonbury Bridge is a great little horse and the lads (CJ & T Syndicate) have had some fun with him. He’s a right little horse. He had a lovely run in Navan (in November) and where he really ran well over two miles and Gavin Cromwell’s horse that won it, Midnight It Is, ran well in the Dan Moore here the other day. He is what he is and there is no big plan or anything, but sure we’ll find something next.
Find A Fortune bags first win as second-string
we thought Find A Fortune would need the run to be honest and only stuck him in at 9.55am because the race was cutting up. Walking around the ring, he looked big enough for one of ours but it’s great for Aidan (Ryan, owner) who is a big supporter of the yard so it’s nice to get him a winner. He’ll go chasing at some stage, we’ll keep him going as he’ll handle better ground. Heroes Rise wants better ground - he ran well the last day at Thurles but we were worried about the ground for him today.

Dream Fairyhouse result for local owner-breeders
two brothers Ivan and Thomas Sutton own her and they also bred her. They live about two miles over the road so this is fantastic. The mare has been running so consistently well and really deserved today. There was a maiden hurdle for horses rated 110 or less at Punchestown in a fortnight and I was so close to waiting for it as it was made for her with the mares allowance. However it was Gordon’s mare’s (Elliott, Swing Davis) first run in a hurdle and ours was battled-hardened so we gave it a go with Tiernan’s (Power Roche) 7lb claim. Her form from Limerick has worked out very well so she deserved to go and thank-God it worked. We might try and find a black-type mares handicap to see if we could sneak a little bit of placed black-type with her as the lads will probably breed from her.
Cheltenham Bumper-fifth wins over hurdles
Duffys Hodey gives connections a dramatic double
I would hate to come up against the runner-up (Blue Reed) over two miles - he would have won a furlong!. Tiernan’s 7lb is invaluable: he rides very well and I’m very lucky to have him on the team. It was very hard for him to sit where he was there and ride the race he did, but he did it. Tiernan was a big asset today. The horse has been a rock of consistency and I thought he ran well at Limerick in Christmas.
