Bolger juvenile maintains unbeaten record
I would have liked another week or ten days but he ran tonight as I wanted another run into him before the Futurity. I didn't do anything with him since the Curragh and I took it on trust and let him look after himself but he can go anywhere now. He's the oul fella (sire and one time Bolger inmate Teofilo) re-incarnated - everything he does is the same way and that's where he's at at the moment except he's two weeks ahead of the father!
Rummaging has things nicely arranged
we maybe got a bit lucky with the two coming out and the other horse not loading but he deserves it as he's been a terrific servant and is thoroughly genuine. After he won last week we said we'd up him to a mile and try him. He hit the line well and as he's gotten older he's probably settling better. Conor is very good value for his 7lb and that's a big help. The horse is a good ride and with three runners it was straight-forward. He's not getting any younger and is exposed but as long as he's enjoying it we'll keep going. Hopefully the handicapper isn't too hard on him.
Bolger to go 'fishing' with Stellar Glow
she was always going to get it (the win) but made us wait a little while. I still think there is a big day in her and hopefully we'll fish it out of her before her career is over. Eventually she'll go for something big but if there's a handy Listed race going we'll give it a go - if there is such a thing anymore!
In-foal Kicker causes 20/1 upset
she ran alright the last day when she got stopped a few times and she's in foal to Famous Name which is probably a big help to her. I'm delighted for the Howards (owners) who have been good supporters of mine and they'll be breeding out of a winner now. I've had pre-trainers for them for a good few years and this is the second horse to run for me. She'll go for something similar again.
Cailini Alainn gives Oxx third winner of week
she (Cailini Alainn) ran two terrible races earlier in the year on heavy, nearly unraceable sticky ground although that ground (today) is possibly fast enough. She ran well at the Curragh in a slowly run mile-and-a-half and the nice pace suited well there and she won nicely. We'll maybe look at the Ladies Derby at the Curragh, that might be next but we'd want the ground to be good. Last year I didn't run her during the summer as I thought she wanted a cut but now we know she doesn't want it heavy either.
Ruler Of France scores for King & Twomey
I'm happy with that. Conor gave him a good ride and the horse seemed to enjoy it.
Cyclone heading straight for Galway Festival
he was good. He loved it and I was delighted with him. He'll go straight for the Galway Hurdle now. It's been the plan for three years but two years ago he got hurt and last year he tore the leg off himself at Punchestown. Hopefully he's alright in the morning - I walked the track before as I was afraid of my life and if there had been firm in it he wouldn't have run. That'll leave him spot on for Galway. Please God he'll get there safe and sound. Patrick (Mullins) said after they turned out of the back, it was all over as he was travelling so easily.
