An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after two incidents of interference inside the final ½ furlong involving Deposit (IRE), placed second, ridden by Dylan Hogan and the winner, KITTY’S COVE, ridden by David Allan.
The Stewards considered that the interference had improved KITTY’S COVE’s placing as in the first incident, just inside the final ½ furlong, KITTY’S COVE hung sharply left- handed carrying Deposit (IRE) off its intended line for 5 strides.
In the second incident which was approaching the line, KITTY’S COVE continued to hang left-handed giving Deposit (IRE) a bump and further taking the gelding off its line whilst Deposit appeared to regather its momentum and stay on to be beaten by a diminishing head.
The placings were revised as follows: First, Deposit (IRE), Second, KITTY’s COVE, Third, Echo (IRE), Fourth, Well Funded (IRE).
The first incident was considered to be accidental as KITTY’S COVE hung quickly left-handed and in the second incident Allan was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he failed to take sufficient steps to prevent his mount from hanging left- handed.
David Allan, the rider of Kitty's Cove (GB), placed second was suspended for 2 days for using his whip above the permitted level from 2 furlongs out.
Following the race, Faye McManoman reported that her saddle slipped on Archive (FR), unplaced.
