Risk makes odds of 6/4 look Generous
To be fair he’s not a bad horse. He had a couple of good runs in bumpers,. He was just being hard on himself in bumpers, so we said we’d go jumping. He’ll probably make a chaser next year. It’s not like us to go jumping a hurdle at this time of year, but he’s six so we said we’d let him rock on. I think he’s a nice horse, he had a really good run in Fairyhouse. He jumped great. He might go to Fairyhouse for something, and he could be a horse for Aintree.
Elliott & Gigginstown double up at Leopardstown
She’d been knocking on the door. It was probably her race to lose, but I was a bit nervous running her back quick. The race kind of found us, more than us going looking for a race,. She’ll definitely get a trip and she’ll jump a fence in time too. She’s got a good pedigree and if we could rob a bit of black-type with her, it would be very important. She’s a full-sister to Itchy Feet.
Dempsey's Missus Beeton tastes victory again
She built well on her last run, she won very easy the last day too,. She’s a lovely filly. She’s very small, you can see the (winner’s) rug is swimming on her. She loves running like that, coming from off the pace. She’s an honest filly, she’d work with anything. She could be a nice filly for the summer, chasing. She jumps away well and she could mix it.
Daydream Nation strikes for the Harveys
I was really happy with him. I wasn’t too sure what to expect as he disappointed us a bit in Thurles the last day. He got a bit worked up before the race last time, but was very relaxed here today. It was his first handicap, I thought it was a big ask, but he went through the race very well and was very professional.
Sweet success for Gibney's chaser
It worked out very well for us with the small field and being left alone. He’s a forward-going horse and I said to JJ after the last day (unplaced at Gowran) that I’d drop him back in trip and let him rattle. He was kind of stopping at the three-quarter-way stage in his other two races, having looked to be travelling really comfortably before that. I didn’t know why, because he’s not slow. The drop back in trip has definitely suited him. The race cut up, but visually it looked good.
Nolan's grey outstays rivals
He got up on the line to win in Limerick on bottomless ground as well, he just stayed at it really well. I thought when they came around him he was going to be third. I knew he’d stay at it, but I didn’t think he’d catch the winner. He was an unlucky faller in a beginners’ chase before. He jumped well today. He said he was grand and idle in second place the whole way around. He hit the line fairly well. It was a chase for horses rated 120 or less, so it was grand for him and it’s nice to get off the mark over fences with him. Hopefully he’ll make into a nice staying chaser on soft ground. We might try him with a light weight in better races and see how we go. I thought the ground would be a bit quick today but they went a good gallop on it. He definitely wants three miles, that’s not going to happen very often where they stop like that and come back to him. He stays at it well and jumped an awful lot better today. I thought for a big horse he was maybe lacking a bit of scope, but he jumped well today.
Harbour Highway motors home under Alan O'Sullivan
He had a nice run here at this meeting last year, in a maiden hurdle, and I’d say he’s just improved for a bit of nicer ground,. It was nice to see him get his head in front. He’s been a frustrating horse since his bumper win. Hopefully we can go forward. I think he’s a horse that appreciates a bit of nicer ground. Hopefully we’ve got him on the right track now. It was a lovely ride by Alan, he rode him with plenty of confidence. It was lovely to see and keeps everyone happy and confident going into next week.
Curling's mare bounds clear in Leopardstown bumper
She’s a lovely mare. I’d say she would have won the first day at Boulta,. In fairness Pius (Collins, owner) was offered a good bit of money and he said he’d keep her. She’s always been very nice. She’ll go for a black-type bumper, she’ll probably go to Aintree. I’d say she’ll even be better on a bit better ground. She’s a nice mare to look forward to. Derek was very impressed with her, she’s a lovely filly. She’s always shown that, she showed it all last year as well.
