It was a lovely opportunity for the horse. He should have won his maiden long before now, but that will give him plenty of confidence - I hope. It is my first winner for these owners (John Kirkland and Mrs Jim Ryan), they have been very supportive of me. They are an absolute pleasure to deal with and hopefully that will give them plenty of confidence to keep the support. This means a helluva lot to me. Hopefully, this horse will kick on and do a bit more in the winter. There was a bit of word for Joseph's (Seola) beforehand, so we were a little bit worried about the three-year-old filly getting all the allowances. She had a good run in Galway the last day. We were just keen to keep things very simple on him. He knows his job. We have probably a dozen in (for the winter) and we will lightly campaign the majority of the string. We had a winner last week, Instant Appeal, and hopefully he is one that will serve us well throughout the winter. We have a nice little squad of them. We have had to freshen up the whole team.

I'm pleasantly surprised!. He is obviously owned by our Saudi client, Essam Saiel, and he has been a great supporter of ours. Pink Oxalis has been a star filly for them this year. Very, very lucky to have her on our side. I'm just delighted for him. This horse was picked up very cheaply last year at the Autumn Sale. The family come over and they inspect the yearlings themselves, Essam's nephew comes over and inspects them. They picked this horse out - very little pedigree, but he had a good sire (Sands of Mali) on his side. His stats are off the charts - tough, very tough (progeny). The penny was only dropping with him the last couple of weeks in work. He's a horse we took our time with and we knew he was going to be more of a three-year-old type. I don't know where we are going next, because that is a big surprise to me.
