Syd Hosie was fined £80 as one of his employees did not have an identity card to gain access to the Racecourse Stables and had to be issued with an emergency pass.
Rounding the Cathedral bend, going out onto the final circuit, Texard (FR), placed fourth, hung left- handed making contact with Ecu De La Noverie (FR), placed third, resulting in both runners becoming briefly unbalanced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The performance of Texard (FR) which started favourite and finished fourth, beaten by 59¼ lengths was considered.
The representative of David Pipe could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance, other than Texard (FR) appeared to be never travelling after making a jumping error at the second fence.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Texard (FR) during routine testing failed to reveal any abnormalities, other than the gelding had lost its right-hind shoe.
