An enquiry was held to consider why Rae Guest was running Kachumba (GB) here at Brighton on going described as Good to Firm, having declared the filly a non-runner at Doncaster on 25 July 2019 on ground with the same official description.
The representative of Rae Guest explained that the gelding wants quick ground and after declarations on 23 July 2019, the ground had softened to Good, Good to Soft in places.
He added that on the morning of the race the ground had firmed up to Good, but with the extreme high temperatures forecast for that day they did not want to travel Kachumba (GB) to Doncaster without guarantee that the ground would be quick enough for the filly to run.
