- Stewards Report
At the second last fence, Flight To Nowhere (GB), placed third, jumped sharply left-handed, interfering with Fair To Dream (GB), placed second, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The winner, Ben Brody (IRE), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Bangor on 14 January 2021 where the gelding finished fifth of nine runners beaten by 28¾ lengths.
Jeffreys explained that in his opinion, on its previous run, the ground at Bangor had been particularly holding and tacky, especially in comparison with today’s more genuine Heavy, Soft in places ground at Ludlow which Ben Brody (IRE) was more suited by.
Jeffreys added that Ben Brody (IRE) had further benefitted from an easy lead on this occasion.
His explanation was noted.
The Clerk of the Scales reported that Lilly Pinchin, the rider of Fair To Dream (GB), placed second, trained by Sarah-Jayne Davies, had weighed in at 9st 11lbs having weighed out at 9st 9lbs.
The rider, the trainer and the Clerk of the Scales were interviewed.
Pinchin was suspended for 3 days for weighing in at 2lbs overweight.
Following the race, Matt Griffiths reported that Bang On (IRE), which was pulled up, stopped quickly; Jeremy Scott reported that the gelding made a respiratory noise; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
