Listowel Sat, 26th Sep, 2026  Luck Between Us it was a big step up in grade from his Ballinrobe win although he had less weight in this race so I decided to roll the dice. Niall is one of the most underestimated riders in Ireland and carried out every instruction to a tee. He is fierce value for his 5lb claim and everything worked out well. I tried to sell this horse last July but it was an advantage to me that he wasn’t sold. He is a progressive horse and is still improving. I am a Limerick-man (Kilfinane) but have recently moved to a new yard a mile down the road, into Cork, which is just a mile from my previous base. I’d like to thank my staff at home, including my daughter Ciara, who do a fantastic job and are a great team. I’m looking for owners, I have new stables, a two-and-a-half furlong oval gallop and another four-furlong uphill sand gallop. Whoever wants to send me a horse I’ll train it, I have 19 in at the moment and have room for more, either Flat or jumps.

Listowel Fri, 25th Sep, 2026  Ebony King I’m happy out with that. He got injured in Killarney in a six-runner race where the first four either won or were placed in Royal Ascot on their next runs,. We got him back and he was ready but we thought he did might just need the run. He’s a nice horse. This is a great tonic for Tom Marr, his wife and her sister Mairead, as Mairead is the grandmother of Kaitlyn (Ryan), who got the fall recently so that’s a bit of a help.

We got him back and he was ready but we thought he did might just need the run. He’s a nice horse. Listowel Thu, 24th Sep, 2026  Berkstar He had been showing me plenty at home and I'm very pleased with how he did it. I imagine he might go jumping now rather than going for a winners' bumper, but we'll see. I'll talk to Patrick and he'll tell me what he thinks. I'm very happy for owner Francis Mangan, who has been involved in horses with me in the past, but that's his first runner for me in his own colours. Francis is involved through Aubrey McMahon's Temple Bloodstock and this is nice for him. The runner-up (Eoin McCarthy's Bravemans Call) ran a cracker and looks one for the future too.

Listowel Wed, 23rd Sep, 2026  Glin Road Boy It’s a fabulous win for the owner Paddy Mulvihill. He’s from Moyvane, which is only down the road, but he’s living in Limerick now,. He’s had horses on and off with me for a good number of years. We’ve had one or two winners but nothing serious. Hopefully this fella might nick a few more. He ran well the last day but it was probably more competitive here. It’s great to get the win. He’ll possibly jump a fence as well.

Ballinrobe Fri, 11th Sep, 2026  Luck Between Us I told Niall to be handy and, if there was no pace, to let him on. I had my eye on Niall for a long time, he's a good claimer and rides to instructions as much as possible. He said he hung left all the way, and he probably got beat in Sligo for going left after the last, so he might be a better horse at a left-handed track. We'll see what the handicapper does, but he jumps fences well, so we have that option too. He's a straightforward horse at home, my daughter Aibhe rides him, but he gets a bit fresh when he comes racing. He'll handle soft ground, but not winter soft. I've about 18 or 19 in training, and have a couple of nice unraced mares to come out.

Galway Wed, 29th Jul, 2026  Mighty Berkshire That was brilliant. We got his wind done and I thought he had a nice run back in Kilbeggan,. I said I’d wait for this race and it worked out. I’m owed an apology off his owners. I went to Benidorm with a few of them and they were calling him a few names!

He’s a fine big horse and he’ll jump a fence. He loves good ground, so hopefully he’ll have a good summer campaign.

He’s a fine big horse and he’ll jump a fence. He loves good ground, so hopefully he’ll have a good summer campaign.

Roscommon Tue, 30th Jun, 2026  Thatwilldoso This was the plan and it was important,. She wasn’t coming into form and we gave her a run last week over a mile-and-five and she stayed the trip. It was a good run the last day and she likes this track, she needs an uphill finish and she needed every bit of it. It’s an important race to win for the jockey and I go back a long way with the Clearys. Tom and Kathleen ran the pony racing for long enough back in the early 2000s. We’re around a long time. It’s not a big race, but it’s an important one to win for them. Plans don’t often come off, but the filly was tough at the line and Rory knows her so well. It’s great for Rory, Tom and Kathleen and for Paul. It’s great for them all.

In Clonmel when she finished fifth she was in season the next morning. The last day she backed it up and today she put it all to bed. She digs deep. Hopefully now she’ll go on to bigger and better things. We’ll have to go for a maiden hurdle with her now, we’ll give her a little bit of a break. I’d say she’ll go on any ground. She has a bit of size to her and she’s a well-bred filly. Hopefully she can improve again. Hopefully we can get her name in the paper somewhere on a big day.
