Apple's Of Bresil
He had a little bit of a suspensory issue, nothing major, and we just had to give him the time,. He’s a big horse and he always looked like he was going to be better over a fence. He goes on good ground so I’d say we’ll keep him going for the summer now. I’d like to get him to Galway if I can, we’ll see how he comes out of the race. There is a handicap back here in a couple of weeks. If he bounced out of the race we might look at that. You have to have three runs before you can run in any of the bigger chases. It’s a great first step so we are thrilled. Tim (O’Driscoll) is abroad, in either France or Spain. I can’t keep up with him. He’s had a good old time of it and we’ll keep him over there!

Mr Master Mac
He has run around the country tracks and that is why we said we would come down here. He has all that experience. Tramore especially was a good run. He won his bumper in Sligo and coming up here, we thought he should handle the place, and it is hard to handle it. He's not the biggest, but he's very athletic and was well bought by James Hughes. Tom was good on him too. He's agile, he's small, and he can nip around these places. We will stick to the country tracks and try and pick up as many as we can.

Samba Train
It was her first time at that trip, she stayed well and, like her owner (Sir Francis Brooke), she is a pleasure. . We had previously been found out in a Listed race at Thurles but that was on soft ground, and she is a well-bred mare who has two bumpers and a maiden hurdle won now. She was slick over her hurdles, saw it out well and she'll keep going for the summer.

He’s some horse to stay and the bit of nicer ground helped,. He just didn’t operate on the heavy ground in Naas, he found it tough work. Back on nice ground today he was very tough and stayed going. He didn’t jump particularly well the last day in Fairyhouse, he didn’t jump at all to be honest. He’ll have to smarten up with that but if he can do that he’s a nice horse.

That’s mighty. When I looked at the weights in the race, I said I wouldn’t ride him myself. I had been watching Barry, and he rode for me in Bellewstown before. He’s a good lad. I thought it might be the difference and that’s why I said I’d sit it out. It paid dividends as there wasn’t much in it. He quickened well and I’m delighted. The owners are in the bar all day, so they are fairly buoyed! I’d say I’ll have to join them now. I said I was going home to ride out in the morning, but I don’t think I’m allowed now. He’s always shown a lot. We’ll leave him off now. It was even a bit of a gamble, I was very worried about keeping a four-year-old in this long but he’s a big strong boy and he has a turn of foot. He’s a nice horse for next year.

He’s a nice horse,. He’d only been away once on grass, in Tipperary, but he had plenty of work done on the woodchip down in Curraghmore. He’d been working with all the decent horses so we thought coming here that he’d be fairly hard to beat unless he bumped into a very good horse. Fair play to the boys, Liam and Brendan O’Rourke of O’Rourke Construction in Liverpool. They thrown a few quid into the yard and I hope it pays dividends for them. He was green in his ways. He’s a fine big horse, around 17 hands, and I’m delighted with him.

Dee's Lady
She had a couple of good runs in maiden hurdles last year but just took a while to come to hand as she didn’t come back to us for a good while,. The race went grand, Keith kept her out a bit for the better ground. It worked out grand and she won well in the end. She’s a nice filly. I’d imagine she’ll go chasing next year, she’s a big filly. I don’t think she’d really want heavy ground but at the same time she wouldn’t be one for the summer as she’s a big filly.

Heads Up
Phew! Obviously everything went wrong the last day. The delay didn’t help but the way he behaved delay or no delay he would have blown his chance. The frustrating thing is that he’s a very placid horse at home and is not keen or anything. All his schooling has been in behind but if you get into a row with him, you’ll lose. It’s great to get him back and Danny gave him a lovely ride from the front, he didn’t set him alight too much. I wouldn’t say he’s had an easy race, but he would have enjoyed it and that’s the main thing. We just wanted to get him back on track. Where we go, I don’t know. There will be big decisions to be talked about, but they are nice decisions. He’s in both the Supreme and the Turners. He’s probably a two-and-a-half miler but with his exuberance we decided to come back to two and he obviously settled a lot better. This was a Listed race today so it’s obviously good to get it, in itself. I thought he actually ran remarkably well the last day to last pretty much into the home straight given that he was like a wild animal. It was like he didn’t see his hurdles; he was kicking them out of the way. He was running around and he was keen for whatever reason. Cheltenham is an atmospheric place and for whatever reason he just didn’t handle it. We had the hood on today and it obviously helped. It’s a worry because we’re going to be going to either Cheltenham, Aintree, P

I thought it might come too soon after running such a good race in Thurles last Thursday, but she came out of it bouncing and she just seems to be improving with age. She likes to get on with it. She has a high cruising speed, and she loves what she’s doing. Mike gets on great with her. He’s riding out of his skin at the moment and he’s great. I’m delighted for John and Sharon (Flavin), who have been big supporters of my yard. They have trusted me with this mare and thankfully I’m paying them back now. John wants to cover her as she’s a valuable broodmare now; she’s got a great pedigree. We’ll tip away and we might find another race for her over fences maybe.
