A native of Dunboyne in Co Meath, Davison is a graduate of the Godolphin Flying Start programme and gained experience working alongside some of the top training names in the world before setting out on his own journey at Killarkin Stud, a family-owned property located just outside his hometown.
Killarkin Stud has been a leading stud farm in the Northern Hemisphere for decades. Jack's grandfather, Walton, purchased the farm in the late 1950s and bred numerous notable racehorses, including Group 1 winners Hot Spark and Steel Heart, from there.
Walter Davison also proved instrumental in syndicating the US-bred stallion Habitat, who went on to become one of the most influential sires in recent history.
Now Jack is bringing his own expertise to the Killarkin Stud name, offering world-class training and breeding services after honing his skills by travelling the world.
After graduating from the Godolphin Flying Start programme, Jack picked up nuggets of information from working alongside the likes of Clive Cox, Jim Bolger, Gai Waterhouse, Eoin Harty, Francis Graffard and Eddie Lynam in a globe-trotting apprenticeship.
He took out his own license in 2017 and sent out his first winner at Dundalk in August 2018 when the Oisin Orr-ridden Black Magic Woman won the juvenile fillies' maiden on the Polytrack.
Every up-and-coming trainer needs a breakthrough horse and in Jack's case it was Mooneista.
The Dandy Man mare started her career on track in the summer of 2020 as racing returned from the Covid-enforced absence.
She ran some big races in defeat before winning her maiden over 5f at Down Royal in September of that year, her final 2YO start.
She returned the following season and, on her third start, won the Listed Woodlands Stakes at Naas over 5f in the hands of Wayne Lordan.
She was sixth in the Commonwealth Cup at Ascot in June 2021 and a month later she landed the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes at the Curragh with champion jockey Colin Keane doing the steering.
She continued to run big races the following season, including being fourth behind Nature Strip in the 2022 King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot, but failed to win and, at the end of 2022, moved to Joseph O'Brien's yard.
Davison sent out a best-ever 19 domestic wins during 2024 and continues to build his operation in progressive fashion.
Another filly, She's Quality, is now carrying the torch for his stable. She began 2025 by finishing second in the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket behind Rumstar.
She has hit the crossbar three times since in Group-race company, including a neck-second in the King George Qatar Stakes at Glorious Goodwood and ran with credit in York's Nunthorpe in Group 1 company in August."She wants quick ground and a fast track so we need to work within that," was Davison's early season assessment of the Acclamation filly and she may tackle another Group 1 sprint during the Irish Champions Festival, while the Breeders' Cup in America could be an option before 2025 is done.
