Dame Rapide I’ve been getting the trip wrong with her. She’s out of a Galileo mare and the Galileo is coming out. She wants a trip even though she is a little filly,. She got a very good ride from Siobhan. I don’t think it was her fault that she spooked in front. It was probably the first time that she hit the front.

Blackstone Cliff The owner James Wallace is a very nice man who has been patient with me making a mess of things! He was unlucky at Down Royal and then I stretched him stamina-wise at Leopardstown and the ground was very soft at Cork the last day, and he loves this ground. I was humming and hawing whether to run him as he didn't do a great piece of work during the week, but when you have Colin on your side it is a great help. He stays 1m2f, is big enough to jump hurdles and when we got him he was quite keen and he could possibly make a nice summer hurdler next year.

Seanjohnsilver He was missing the breaks catastrophically and in fairness to Colin Keane, who rode him the last day, said to take the crossed noseband off him as he resented it,. We did and he pinged out of stalls at home yesterday and if you look back on his old form in England he was probably well handicapped. It was very hard to have confidence with him and the noseband was the only thing we changed; he jumped fine for us at Dundalk in the past but all of a sudden started doing it and we were definitely on our last legs with him. I hope the owner had something on because I was just hoping he'd jump out! . He is owned by David Reilly, a very nice fellow from Dublin.

Rockview Empress She's gradually been getting the hang of things and the trainer has gradually found what trip she wants as well. She's a big sparely made filly and we hope she is improving. We won't over-race her and then we'll put her away until next year. She's from quite a good family and is a sister to a black-type horse (Great Dancer, a maiden winner for Michael Halford and later Grade 3-placed at Belmont Park) so she has a bit of value as a broodmare anyway. There is still improvement in her and I'm delighted. It's another good ride from the main man.

Bellick I didn't know but I thought on the nod we might have got it,. I was cursing for four furlongs of the race thinking we were on the wrong side so it was probably a good performance. He deserves it, he's a little star and never runs a bad race. I'm sure we'll end up back in Dundalk for the winter. He had been hitting a flat spot in his races and I said to Siobhan 'don't force him' and it seems to have worked as he's run two better races the last twice. Siobhan was flying and then Covid came. It's very tough to give chances the way things are but she's well worth the 7lb claim, listens to what she's told and is improving all the time. I'm delighted for her and hopefully it might kick start her again.
