FormscanBy Alan Magee - Two years ago DEBUCHET was caught close home by Fayonagh in the Weatherbys Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival before going on to record a decisive win in a Listed race at Limerick. It would have been hard to envisage then that he’d now be an eight-race maiden over hurdles but the Mags Mullins-trained grey has failed to live up to expectations. However he handles soft ground well and a maiden such as this is still within his compass considering form like a placed effort behind City Island at the Galway Festival. He probably found 2m6f too far when third to Walk Away at Thurles last time, and may now reverse places with Final List. The latter has also built up a sequence of placed runs over hurdles since landing a bumper at Tramore in December. The drop back to two miles may not suit, although this stiff uphill finish will play to his strengths. Carlisle bumper winner Lily’s Gem should benefit from an outing over hurdles at the same venue last month, while Ontheiflist and Spruced Up are others to note.
