FormscanBy Eamonn Murphy - With form in Germany, France, Italy and Australia, Ancient Spirit now starts off in Ireland, and he’s another Zhang Yuesheng runner for the Jim Bolger yard following on from Southern Horse. It’ll be interesting to see how this classy sort goes in the betting on his first run for 124 days with cheek-pieces tried. Ancient Spirit has an Irish Champion Stakes entry. For a selection I’ll go with Mrs Harrington’s dual course victor, PINCHECK, after a decent seasonal bow when third in the Listed Celebration Stakes at the Curragh on Derby Day. The mile one trip could be a nice fit for him now. All the three-year-olds need respecting along with the likes of Zihba.
