Reports in which Asphalt Cowboy (IRE) was mentioned
Asphalt Cowboy clearly enjoys Downpatrick and enhanced his record at the northern venue to two from two with victory in the Dennison Commercials Hunters Steeplechase over an extended 3m4f.
Fri 23rd May
Michael Sharpe was unseated from Sonny Carey's Asphalt Cowboy but, crucially, that happened after the winning post in the maiden hunters chase at Downpatrick.
Sun 30th Mar
A very in-form Fountain House transferred his point-to-point form to the track to land the maiden hunters chase at Thurles.

He won the two hunters chases here last year. He loves it here and is a different horse around here. The other horse (Cause For Comment) is a much classier horse but this lad when he comes around here, he seems to light up. We'll work back from here next year!. He's unbelievably talented, but he just has his own ideas about it. He's a yard favourite. He would be a right horse for the Ulster National. I would look at that; sure it is a 50 grand race. Cause For Comment ran a blinder, he was unlucky. He was very lucky to stand up. He's finished for the season, but he will be a lovely horse for next year.

He loves it here - up and down, and it suits him. Michael gets on great with him and he does a great job on him. He's (Sharpe) very, very good, he rode a winner in between for Arthur Moore (Flying Trix, Down Royal) a couple of weeks ago. It wouldn't matter what trip, he could win over two miles that lad once he puts his mind to it.

Paddy (Mullins) got a great spin (on Cause For Comment) and I thought he was going to win turning in. Loose horse didn't help him the whole way, but that was only his third run over fences and he is going to be a lovely horse next year when he's with a proper trainer!. I thought that horse (Asphalt Cowboy) might run well, he'd love it around here. He's an oul rogue but he has been a brilliant horse for us. We bought him last year and that is his third win for us. We bought him for Michael to ride. He works for me and has been with me since he was 12. He's a brilliant little rider. He came to the yard one day and never left! When he goes somewhere proper next year, he will fly. The saddle went on him jumping the second-last and he stayed with him. He'd be used to hanging onto things in my place! He was brilliant on him and gets on great with that horse.
