She hated the ground first-time out and is a real summer mare. She is not very big, is light-boned and will run away during the summer. I think as racing went on today, they were going wider and wider and with no chases and six hurdle races, it was getting more chewed up than normal. There was no pace, she was fit and had a run so I decided to go on and it worked out. I think there is a bit more there with her and I imagine she will go jumping now, although she might strengthen up with a break so we'll see what Willie thinks.

When I sold her to the boys (BTF Racing Club), I said we'd win a Flat race and a hurdle race and we also managed a chase in the middle, so now I have the triple crown!. She won a good hurdle race on bottomless ground here one New Year's Daym and is a great little mare. She loves it down here and both Paddy (Harnett) and I needed that winner. He gave her a peach of a ride. Fair play to Jamie Bergin, who is the head of the syndicate, as keeping 20 lads happy is never easy and he had been getting stick for her not winning on the Flat. The lads are all training for Drom & Inch (Tipperary) tonight and there's a match Friday night, so I said the hurling comes first. They are all good hurling men but other than that, they'd all be here.

She was running well last winter but if she had been younger, I wouldn't have run her during the winter but it was just to get the experience into her. She had been buzzy and I won't say she was a handful but was just that little bit babyish. That ground, jumping out smartly like that and the trip were important to her. She doesn't quicken but has a good high tempo and is a nice one to have for the summer. You'd like to think she'll be a better mare over fences too as she jumps great. Liam (Quinlan) is in with me, so knows her and knows how to ride her, and Martin (Hogan, owner) is from right across the road.
