She’s a top class mare and was third in a Grade 2 bumper at Leopardstown. James said she took a blow turning in and had plenty left in the tank. I’m always giving out that in the ‘100s’ every time she ran she was getting beat by lower ones, but she’s very consistent,. She should be left off for the winter, but she was in such good form you couldn’t. When she ran here the last day, she went on the soft ground so I said we’d come back at Christmas over two-miles-three (furlongs). Darragh O’Keeffe did a great job on her, but I wanted 7lb. I said to Calum that usually she’d be sitting and finding one or two too good, so to go on and go a gallop. I was looking at halfway and I said maybe I gave him the wrong instructions, but she’s tough. Her mother won here, Backinthere, and she was my first winner. I’ve very lucky owners, the Sheehans, and they’ve been great to me. I only have two to run on the track, this one and God Help Us, and both of them have won this year. Usually she gets her break, so I don’t know. Hopefully, there is a chase in her during the summer, but she deserved that.

She is a good consistent mare and has maybe been a bit unlucky. There was no pace in Clonmel the last day and it was a little bit short for her. She's a good staying mare and she'll be better over fences. She is owned by a real good group of lads from west Tipperary and I'd say there will be a fair session tonight. The man that had her previously just finished up with her and Cian (Quirke) recommended her then to us. She is a nice honest mare, gets a trip well and doesn't like to be in front too long. That's why he was just hanging on and hanging on today. That's what happened with her at Punchestown, we tried to make the running with her and she just didn't like it. She'll keep going in handicaps. Hopefully the handicapper will give her a chance and I'm looking forward to going over fences with her.

He deserved that. He ran a cracker in Roscommon and ran a good race the last day where we probably didn't make enough use of him. I said to Sean today to just use his jumping and his jumping won it for him. I was very worried half an hour ago when the fences were taken out of the previous race, that wouldn't of suited us at all, but thankfully they came back in. Liam Quinlan gave him a great ride in Roscommon and that was his first sort of good run. He tried to make all that day too. He is just a very, very good jumper when he gets into that rhythm. I was watching the races and there was horses behind making lots of mistakes, he just puts them under pressure. I ran him today after last week because there is not another race for him for about another five weeks, a three-mile plus race. We just said we'd chance running him and see what happens and thankfully it worked out. The owners are local to me in Tramore and there is a couple of Portlaw men involved too.

We persisted and now it has paid off,. I stuck a tongue-tie on her and said it would maybe help her concentrate a bit more, maybe that worked — I’m not sure. She had been coming into good form compared to what she had been in. We’ll keep the tongue-tie on anyway until it stops working. She’s rated 85 over fences as well. It wasn’t before time that he got going, he won his maiden hurdle first time,. He had a good run in a bumper here as well, when he was second to one of Willie Mullins’ (Caman Eileen). I don’t know if he’ll run again tomorrow, we’ll see. It might be a bit soon. He’s a grand horse for the summer. He’s a smasher. It took us so long to get him right, he got a fall schooling after he won his maiden hurdle. There was lots of chiropracty. Mark Slevin did a great job, we fired his palate and tidied him up as best we could. He looks progressive now, even though he’s an eight-year-old. If we pulled him out tomorrow he could win again!. He’s way better over fences, he’s tricky over hurdles but he’s putting it together now.

He has a great bunch of owners. It’s a partnership that I put together between a few guys I know and met. It’s their first winner as a partnership. I thought he’d run well in Clonmel, but I’d say he got away with murder at home over Christmas. He races a bit lazy and we figured that out in Clonmel the last day and changed his training regime a little bit. I think it’s made a big difference. Tiernan is a free 5lb and it’s great to have him on side. I hope he feels the same and it’s good to be part of our team. The team of staff that I have at home at the moment are second to none, I have the most amazing bunch of people around me and I’m very fortunate. Tiernan is fortunate to have them around him too, and him and I are in a good place. The horses have been running very consistently for four years. We mightn’t have a good horse, but the horses are running very consistently. We are trying to build and find a better type of horse and get our level of quality up a little bit. It’s a slow burner and hard work, but I feel that we are getting there.

We went up to Down Royal thinking we were going to get a dig in the ground, but it was like summer good ground on the chase course and he just didn’t act on it. The plan was to try and find a handicap chase, but there wasn’t one so we said we’d come back for a handicap hurdle. He loves soft ground and I think he’d be better on the main track here as he’s such a big lad. I said to Tiernan to stay out wide, he is riding with unbelievable confidence. He’s a great guy and I’m very lucky he’s associated with us. John (Leckey) is a super owner, he’s a great supported and is with me for years. He never interferes, just let’s me tip away at it. He has a huge interest and is a great guy. I’m very lucky with the people I have around me.

She’s a cracking filly who was bred by one of my owners Tommy James and while I previously leased her to a group of lads who then got tired of her, I wouldn't blame them,. I had to take her back myself and I'm delighted she has won as she is from a great family and her half-brother Piccolo Player won in Limerick recently for me, and he is a very good horse. . It is a proper family although I'm not a fan of Sageburg (her sire). She is a cracking little mare so will make a broodmare for somebody. She is difficult to train and to mind but we have great patience, that's one thing I have with horses and I give them every chance. If this mare had been in another yard, she'd have been scrapped long ago. She will be way better over fences.
