Formscan By Mark Nunan - Gordon Elliott holds the key to this contest and Jack Kennedy has gone for Maxxum, but preference is for DEE CAPO who has the best chase form in the race. The Maxios gelding won a decent handicap in November and his fourth in a valuable event at the Dublin Racing Festival was an even better effort. It would appear that Cheltenham is not his track, but this looks a good opportunity back on home soil. Maxxum has been a real money-spinner for the yard over hurdles. Successful on chasing debut, he has failed to make an impact on his other two starts over fences. Look To The West, outclassed before falling on her reappearance at Fairyhouse, looks next best. %0A%0A%0A

Quotes on Dee Capo (FR)
He’s a nice horse and was running a good race the last day in Navan when he made the mistake and fell two out. He can go out in trip and he showed a good attitude galloping out to the line.

Quotes on Maxxum (IRE)
He had a good run in Gowran the last day over three miles, probably didn’t get home,. We thought coming back to that trip today, if he got a soft enough lead, it would work well. Danny gave him a very clever ride and it was great. He did (battle well) – he picked up well, but he got a breather at the right time.

Quotes on Mount Frisco (IRE)
I thought we had Courtney's horse (Is Charlie Around) well stuffed at the second-last, and Dan said he hadn't moved on him. He said he thought he'd have won anyway. He stays and I'd say he needs three miles, and every yard of it. We nearly lost him in Listowel (in September 2024) and he was on three legs for six months afterwards. He is back to himself now, though, and will go for a Listed chase at Gowran next month, in which he finished second in 2024. He'll take beating in that race as he loves the heavy ground, but he also goes on good ground. He is a huge horse. His dam is a half-sister to Commanche Court and I love those Kalanisis.

Quotes on Look To The West (IRE)
she came well recommended for her point-to-point but last year she was just a bit immature still and had a couple of little issues. She'd been working really well and we thought she was nice. It's not easy to make the running around there and it looked a nice race. She hasn't run for a long time so hopefully she'll keep improving as well. She jumped a bit right but otherwise she was really good. We've got her started and now we can look at the next level. I'd say she'll get further but she looked good over that trip. She gallops and jumps. Maybe something like the Solerina (Grade 3 at Fairyhouse in late January) but we'll see what everyone wants to do and enjoy today.
