Formscan By Tom Weekes - SCALPNAGOON (4) has yet to win from seven previous runs over fences but now contests his first handicap chase and should compete. A dual hurdle-winner in 2025, the selection was initially rated 124 over fences and while he has as yet failed to win in this sphere, has competed well in useful races and his mark has now slipped to 114. Teenage Kiss was narrowly beaten in a course handicap on chase debut last month and being just a five-year-old, can progress further over these slightly longer trip. Top weight Nastya was a most fortunate winner of a Limerick handicap in May but should still figure from 4lb higher here.

He was great. We thought the last day here (fell four out) we were definitely going to be there or thereabouts. He hadn't moved and he was well in it. We were very disappointed because we felt like we were going to be contenders. It was great that this race was coming up a few weeks later, there was a lovely time between the two to let him recover and come back and see whether we were right or wrong. We have been vindicated. It was a terrific battle and he's never had to do that before. He's had very little racing, he's a relatively inexperienced horse for his age. He's a big horse who took a lot of time and it is brilliant.

He missed the second-last but Donagh (Meyler) thought that he was going to get back up,. We paid a good few quid (55,000gns) for him out of Andrew Balding's and he took time to come right. He is tough and hardy now, stuck his head out and it was a nice pot to win. He was the first Kingman to win over fences, at Wexford last year. I've no real plan next, as today had been the plan.
