Permission was given for Ecureuil Secret (FR) to go early to post wearing a red hood.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Almaqam (GB), trained by Ed Walker, appeared to show evidence of possible administration of a substance on the horse’s muzzle.
The Trainer’s representative, the Veterinary Officer and an Equine Welfare and Integrity Officer were interviewed.
Being satisfied that the colt had received only normal food and water by mouth on the day of racing, the Stewards allowed Almaqam (GB) to run, and ordered the colt to be routine tested.
A report was forwarded to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority for further consideration.
Following the race, Callum Shepherd reported that Bay City Roller (IRE), placed sixth, was slowly away.
