Permission was given for King Of Stars (IRE) to go early to post; for Kinetic Force (GB) to be mounted in the chute and go early to post, wearing a red hood; and for Jax Edge (GB), Star Chorus (IRE) and Over Spiced (GB) to wear a red hood to post.
Benoit de la Sayette, the rider of Kinetic Force (GB), drawn 4, was slow to remove the blindfold.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, de la Sayette’s explanation that he missed the blindfold at the first attempt when Kinetic Force (GB) jumped awkwardly from the stalls was noted.
Leaving the stalls, Kinetic Force (GB), unplaced, jumped badly right-handed, bumping Star Chorus (IRE), placed fourth, which in turn bumped Rajeteriat (GB), unplaced, which then made contact with MOE’S LEGACY, placed third, which in turn bumped Diamond Dreamer (GB), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching 2 furlongs out, involving the winner, Hk Fourteen (IRE), ridden by Jack Doughty, Jax Edge (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Gina Mangan and Over Spiced (GB), unplaced, ridden by Ray Dawson.
The interference was found to be accidental as Hk Fourteen (IRE) shifted slightly left-handed, at the same time as Jax Edge (GB) lugged right-handed, resulting in Dawson taking a check when short of room.
Following the race, Mason Paetel reported that King Of Stars (IRE), unplaced, hung left-handed; and Gina Mangan reported that Jax Edge (GB), placed fifth, ran too free.
