THE WIN £250,000 WITH BETMGM'S GOLDEN GOALS HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) Permission was given for Secret Road (IRE) to go early to post wearing a red hood.
The Starter reported that HOW’S THE GUVNOR (IRE) was unruly in the stalls.
Jennie Candlish was informed that the gelding could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
As it was the second occasion within the previous 12 months that HOW’S THE GUVNOR (IRE) had been reported, a further report within the same period would mean the gelding would be prevented from having a stalls test for 6 months.
Harry Vigors, the rider of Havana Club (GB), was unseated rounding the first bend.
The rider and George Wood, the rider of HOW’S THE GUVNOR (IRE), placed third, were interviewed and shown recordings of the incident.
Being a 7lb claiming apprentice, Vigors was accompanied in the enquiry by a senior rider.
It was found that the incident was accidental and was caused by HOW’S THE GUVNOR (IRE) taking hold of the bridle when rounding the bend and running up inside the heels of Bomb Squad (IRE), placed second, which raced one off the rail in front, resulting in Havana Club (GB), which was half a length down on HOW’S THE GUVNOR (IRE), becoming short of room and making contact with the rail, Page 1 Published: Monday, 9th February 2026, 16:38 unseating Vigors.
Following the race, George Wood reported that How's The Guvnor (IRE), placed third, was restless in the stalls and Lillie Dingle reported that Roman Emperor (GB), unplaced, was slowly away.
