16 declared for Irish 1,000 Guineas

Heart Shaped and Nashmiah are the chief absentees after 16 fillies were declared this morning for the Boylesports.com Irish 1000 Guineas to be run at the Curragh on Sunday.

Again, winner of last year's Moyglare Stud Stakes, is one of four runners from the David Wachman yard, with Always Be Tru, Chintz and Love Bird also taking their chance.

Jim Bolger's English Guineas runner-up, Cuis Ghaire, has been declared in a bid to go one better, and will be joined by stablemates Duaisbhanna and Oh Goodness Me.

Dermot Weld is triple-handed with Dance Pass, Luminous Eyes and Rare Ransom, while Mick Channon's Lahaleeb and the Brian Meehan-trained Super Sleuth make the journey from England.

Heart Shaped, a creditable fourth at Newmarket, will not run for Aidan O'Brien but the Ballydoyle maestro is still represented by Totally Devoted. Clive Brittain's Nashmiah will also not take her chance. Brittain decided against sending over Nashmiah as he feels the race will come too soon following her victory in testing conditions at York last week, and will now aim her at the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.

'She's going to wait for Ascot, and is in very good form. It's just the race would have come a bit soon after a race on heavy ground, and it would be heavy in Ireland anyway,' said Brittain.
