3mm of rain at Listowel overnight

The ground remains testing for day six, Ladies Day, of the Listowel Festival following 3mm of rain overnight.

The going is described this morning as heavy (soft to heavy in places) on the Flat course, and soft to heavy (heavy in places) on the National Hunt course. There remains a yielding patch of about a furlong at the start of the back straight.

There will be fresh ground for the Flat and hurdle track both today and tomorrow.

Meanwhile the going at Fairyhouse is currently yielding, yielding to soft in places, ahead of their all Flat fixture on Sunday.

The forecast today is for scattered outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, with further showers predicted for tomorrow.

The first on an eight race card at Listowel today gets underway at 2.15pm, with the Guinness Handicap over nine furlongs the feature as a large crowd is anticipated for Ladies Day.
