4.5 mm of Rain at Aintree Overnight Clerk of the course at Aintree, Andrew Tulloch said the Grand National course had taken the four and a half millimeters of rain overnight, "very well," though he did warn that the surface may ease slightly. The going he said is good, good to soft in places on all courses but the rain only stopped at 7am and there would be another assessment at around 8.30am. "The National course took it very well. It may ease a bit more because it has just stopped raining now. I'll have another look in about an hour," said Tulloch. "We've got a terrific covering of grass and the rain has saved me watering." The hurdle course will be making use of fresh ground and Tulloch expected that to ease as well. "It will open quite quickly and ease a bit more. It might become a bit more good to soft there," he said.
