A Wave Of The Sea registered a third course and distance win and a 10th success in total, as he led home seven rivals in the Kilsaran Handicap Chase.

Well-supported from 10/3 into 5/2 favouritism, the admirable Shane Broderick-trained nine-year-old was given a patient ride by Charlie O'Dwyer.

Taking closer order from early on the final circuit and not fluent in fourth two out, he briefly ran short of room on the long run to the final fence.

Ridden to the front after the last, the JP McManus-owned victor ultimately came home two-and-three-quarters of a length to the good, with Clonshire River (9/2) having to settle for the runner-up berth.

"He likes it here. I'd say that trip suits him and the ground was perfect for him," Broderick reflected.

"Charlie gave him a lovely ride and everything worked out for him. He battled away well.

"Last time it just didn't work out on the day."

Frank Berry added: "It's a pity there isn't another meeting here. He'll tip away until the ground gets very heavy. There might be something for him in Listowel."
