Across-the-cards double for Andy Slattery Killarney's Matchbook Exchange 4-y-o Flat Race, over two miles and a furlong, saw Caislean Gear make all the running under Adam Ryan to complete an across-the-cards for trainer Andy Slattery. The 2/1 favourite, runner-up on his debut at Roscommon last month before finishing fourth at Limerick, was ridden over a furlong out and, despite edging left to the rail in front of closest pursuer Emergency Man, stayed on well to beat that rival by a length and a-half. The Galileo Chrome gelding was bred in Galway by Padraic Connolly, who is one of the Taceec Syndicate. Brother and assistant trainer Brian Slattery explained “He was the victim of the ground the last day in Limerick and it didn’t go according to plan. “We were disappointed on the day, but there was a genuine reason why he didn’t go forward from his first run to his second. “The ground was a lot nicer today and he jumped out and kept everything simple. “We’ll enjoy today and make a plan during the week, whether we go for a winners' bumper or go for a maiden hurdle. “He likes good ground and is very straightforward. We’ll enjoy him.” Andy Slattery's Leopardstown winner was Loughrea, ridden by Andrew Slattery, in the one-mile handicap. Additional reporting by Gary Carson
