After riding at Aintree on Thursday and returning there tomorrow, a trip to Wexford in between proved worthwhile for Jack Kennedy, as he partnered Agameoftwohalves to victory in the Irish Injured Jockeys Rated Novice Hurdle.

Fresh from a brilliant Grade 1 double on Merseyside yesterday afternoon, Kennedy settled his mount in second, as Rocky's Howya attempted to make all.

Following up on his breakthrough win at Punchestown last month, the Gordon Elliott-trained victor improved to lead after four out but was soon joined by Jisco Du Brem

Gaining the upper hand early in the straight and keeping on well when ridden away from the last, he ultimately came home five-and-a-half lengths to the good.

As short as 6/5 in early shows, the JP McManus-owned five-year-old was eventually returned the 5/2 favourite.

The outsider of the field at 6/1, Long Branch just got the better of the aforementioned Jisco Du Brem for second, with the other two runners failing to complete.

"The rain is after getting into it a bit and I just kept wide off the chopped up ground," Kennedy reflected.

"He is a grand big horse, a big frame of a horse. He is a bit babyish still and hopefully he'll progress. He'll jump a fence and has loads of scope."
