Dubai World Cup winner Animal Kingdom moved through the gears in his preparation for Royal Ascot with a serious piece of work at Ascot this morning.

Trained in America by British-born Graham Motion, the five-year-old entire was put through his paces by crack US jockey Johnny Velazquez, who will be reunited with the horse at the Royal meeting.

Animal Kingdom worked along the straight mile of Ascot and pulled nicely clear of a David Lanigan-trained inmate by the winning line.

Connections have stated he will be aimed at the Queen Anne Stakes at Ascot on June 18, but will be left in the Prince of Wales's Stakes a day later as a precaution.

Motion's inmate has been stabled at Lanigan's yard in Upper Lambourn since his outstanding two-length triumph at Meydan in March.

The Queen Anne is likely to be his swansong before he takes up stud duties in Australia.
