Arctic Fire in Champion Mix Ruby Walsh feels Arctic Fire will be seen in an even better light back down at two miles despite winning the Hatton's Grace over further last weekend. Walsh believes the Willie Mullins-trained gelding prefers a stronger gallop and he was able to win at Fairyhouse as he was so much better than his rivals. "I don't think two and a half is ideal for him with his style of racing, but I don't think he lacks stamina. He showed in the Champion Hurdle last year that he stays really well, it's just with his style of racing, it's very much on the bridle and a bit keen which is not ideal going up in distance," he told Racing UK. "I would think back over two miles and a stronger pace would suit him even better and he's right in the mix for the Champion Hurdle. "Obviously in the yard we also have Nichols Canyon and Faugheen so three big guns and hopefully they can all stay in one piece. "I very much hope Faugheen regains the winning thread at Kempton in the Christmas Hurdle. "Things didn't work out last time, hindsight is wonderful and maybe I should have sat in front, but that wasn't the decision I made on the day. "I thought we we were going a good gallop the last day. He doesn't have to make the running and maybe he'll be a bit more forward. I wouldn't be sauntering along if no-one else wanted to make it, though."
