Experience and resolution saw Banks Of The Boyne (9/4f) home in the Irish EBF Auction Series Maiden at Leopardstown.

He was the most experienced horse in the field and made all for Wesley Joyce. The pair were pressed outside the furlong pole by The Green Helmet but Banks Of The Boyne really knuckled down to his task in the latter stages to roll home best of all by three-quarters of a length. Sovreigns Joy finished well for second at 9/2 as The Green Helmet (3/1) dropped a head back to third.

Banks Of The Boyne had posted two runner-up finishes from his previous five outings.

Michael Mulvany said: "He's a good, honest horse. Probably crying out for that trip too.

"We came here for the Incentive Bonus Scheme.

"He missed the break a little bit on Sunday, probably it was all for luck. Hopefully it's onwards and upwards with him.

"We'll probably target some of theses sales finals with him. He'll be in at a nice light weight and hopefully we can work from there."
