Beach third as French raider takes the spoils Christophe Soumillon ended an eventul weekend in style as Sarah Lynx won the Pattison Canadian International at Woodbine. The Belgian-born jockey was at the centre of the drama on QIPCO Champions day on Saturday, winning the Champion Stakes on Cirrus Des Aigles but falling foul of the new whip rules in the process. However he gained some compensation for losing his percentage of the prize-money there as John Hammond's charge routed a strong field. The winner raced close to the far fail throughout and showed a fine turn of foot to bound clear of her rivals from the two furlong marker. Last year's winner Joshua Tree ran another fine race in second ahead of Aidan O'Brien's Treasure Beach, who was ridden with more restraint than usual before finishing third. Arctic Cosmos was another to emerge with plenty of credit, taking fourth.
