Berties set to make first start for de Bromhead Berties Dream is set to make his first start for Henry de Bromhead in the Premier County Hurdle at Thurles on Thursday. The 2010 Albert Bartlett Hurdle winner switched bases to the Waterford handler during the summer and de Bromhead is looking forward to seeing him in action. The Golden Tornado gelding made three starts over fences early last season, before reverting to timber, and a return to chasing remains an option for the eight-year-old. “I'd say he will possibly run in the conditions hurdle. With his rating it would be a nice race to start off in,” said de Bromhead today. The gelding also holds an entry in the beginners chase on the card and a decision on what shape his campaign for the season will take depends on how he fares on Thursday. “I'm not sure yet (if he will go chasing) – it's a possibility and we'll see after Thursday. He schooled over fences in Tipperary recently and jumped well. “The lads just want to get him running. The ground is pretty good down there so we thought we would start in the hurdle and get a run into him. “We'll see how he gets on. He seems in good form and is working ok.” Gary Carson
