Brando could take in Curragh race The Weatherbys Ireland Greenlands Stakes at the Curragh remains a possible target for Brando after he made a winning reappearance in the Abernant Stakes at Newmarket last month. The six-furlong Group Two on May 26 is being considered by trainer Kevin Ryan along with the Duke of York Clipper Logistics Stakes at York 10 days earlier. “He has come out of the race great. I couldn’t have been happier with him at Newmarket,” said Ryan. “We haven’t really decided what the plan is yet. He’s in at York and there’s also a race in Ireland, so we’ll just let the dust settle first before making plans.” Further down the line, the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Darley July Cup at Newmarket, in which he was third to Harry Angel last summer, are Group One races Brando could contest.
