Comply still on course for National

Comply Or Die is still on course for another tilt at the John Smith's Grand National despite being pulled up in the totesport.com Eider Chase at Newcastle on Saturday.

The David Pipe-trained 12-year-old was a tired and well-beaten fourth when Timmy Murphy decided the horse had had enough at the second-last fence.

Comply Or Die had won the 33-furlong marathon on the way to glory in the Aintree spectacular in 2008, and the big race is the target once more.

"He stayed up there on Saturday night. He's travelling back, so I haven't seen him myself but the lads tell me he's OK," said the Nicholashayne handler.

"The Grand National will be his next race."

The Eider took its toll in the very testing conditions with only winner Companero, runner-up Giles Cross and Morgan Be the only finishers in a field of 12 starters.
