Owner Nick Peacock is keeping his fingers crossed top-class hurdler Arctic Fire can gain a deserved victory this season.

The six-year-old ran a number of honourable races in defeat during the last campaign, more often than not behind esteemed stable companions.

Arctic Fire was placed behind the recently-retired Hurricane Fly in both the Ryanair Hurdle and the Irish Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown before finding only Faugheen too strong in the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham and the equivalent event at Punchestown.

Peacock will leave it to champion trainer Willie Mullins to plan Arctic Fire's route this term.

He said: "I would imagine he'll start somewhere around November time, but we'll leave that up to Willie.

"I saw him five weeks ago and everything is going well as far as I'm aware, so we'll see what he can do.

"It's quite crowded at the top level in Willie's yard, so it's a bit of a juggling act - that's not even counting what everyone else has got!

"I suppose he could go down the same route as last year - the race at Down Royal (WKD Hurdle) and then the Fighting Fifth at Newcastle, but we'll see.

"When you've got a horse with Mr Mullins you tend to do what you're told!"
