Crowsatedappletart loving life in Wexford Crowsatedappletart enhanced his fine record in Wexford when taking the honours in the Wexford Town Handicap Steeplechase. He was noted travelling well tacking onto the heels of the leaders approaching the home straight as the leader Baltic Bird came under pressure. Kilbrin Rocco took over from Baltic Bird over two out, but Crowsatedappletart loomed large on the approach to the last. He jumped it better than Kilbrin Rocco and swept into the lead on the run-in for Michael Kenneally. The 10/1 chance galloped home well to put two and a-quarter lengths on Kilbrin Rocco (13/2) with Baltic Bird back in third at 9/1. Crowsatedappletart, a nine-year-old gelding with 47 races in his locker, is now three from four in Wexford. He has eight career successes - five over chases and three hurdles. Michael Winters said: “He’s a horse that’s always had his own mind. “As a young horse he didn’t handle the tough tacky ground - it might be a little bit dead there, but I’d say it might have suited him. “The second horse (Kilbrin Rocco), of Eoin McCarthy’s, had a great run, but he might want it slightly better and I’d say we got our ground. “He was out all winter and came in a bit poor. He got six or eight weeks of lunging and three weeks of riding and he ran a great race in Limerick. “We were happy to be in the first three today. “He minds a bit for himself and I’d say the main thing is to hunt around and let him enjoy himself.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson
