Currawood collects on Dundalk return Currawood broke his maiden in decisive fashion when landing the odds in the median auction maiden at Dundalk. The Paddy Twomey-trained colt went to post a 4/9 shot having been placed in three strong maidens last term, including chasing home The Lion In Winter at the Curragh. Billy Lee took a lead on the son of Acclamation, early in the seven furlong heat, before he edged to the front passing the two pole. The hotpot was asked for an effort over a furlong from home and was always doing enough in the closing stages, despite running around a bit in front, to post a length-and-a-quarter win over 150/1 debutant Edge Of Mali. Twomey said: "He's a nice horse and he ran to a good level last year. "This looked a nice starting point for him - he's a good-actioned horse and I thought the track would suit. He seemed comfortable on it." When asked if he could go for a Guineas Trial next, he replied: "He's a nice horse and we'll take him home and see. Probably a winners' race knowing me and go forward from there." (Quotes by Michael Graham)
