Dalton's betting permit revoked

Ger (Dixie) Dalton the rogue bookmaker that left scores of punters out of pocket on the final day of the Listowel Festival last month has had his permit to bet at racecourses revoked.

The Bookmakers' Committee of Horse Racing Ireland met this morning and made the decision following a review of its investigations into complaints arising from Dalton's actions at Listowel.

This decision will bring little cheer to the punters that Dalton swindled at Listowel as they remain no nearer to getting their money back.

Paul Finegan, Manager of the Betting Division of Horse Racing Ireland said: “All complaints submitted to HRI by punters have been forwarded to Mr. Dalton, who remains responsible for their payment.”
