Davison excited by 'live contender' Quality Jack Davison feels that She’s Quality is a ‘live contender’ as she prepares to tackle top level company again in the Bar One Racing Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh next Sunday. The Acclamation filly has been knocking on the door in stakes races this season, with two runner-up efforts at both Group 3 and Group 2 level. Rebounding from York Disappointment She faded late on in the Nunthorpe Stakes at York on her most recent outing and Davison felt things didn’t panned out for her in the Group 1 contest. “Considering how consistent she’d been, at a very high level, all season I was a bit disappointed in York,” Davison told journalist Dave Keena. “She’s run five times this year and every run has been in England, she’s entitled to throw in a below par one. “We’re looking forward to bringing her half an hour down the road to the Curragh. “She seems to have come out of York well and I think she’s going to run a massive race. “It’s really exciting to have a live chance in a Group 1 on Champions Weekend. Home Advantage for Champions Weekend “In York my view was that she just didn’t particularly enjoy being asked to go that quick, with no lead, on very fast ground. “The Nunthorpe is a different ball game. We anticipated getting a lead but the race didn’t set up to suit, and that’s sprinting. “Every race has a different complexion, nine times out of ten if you run it again you get a different result. “We’ll move forward now to the Flying Five, she’s a picture of health. She’s very well at home and her weight is good. “She’ll do a piece of work on Tuesday at the Curragh and hopefully it’ll be all systems go for a big run in the Flying Five. “For a smaller yard it’s always great to have a flag bearer. Even in a handicap it’s an achievement to run on Irish Champions Weekend. “To have a live contender in a Group 1 is very exciting. We’ve been there before, we haven’t got the result we wanted but I think I have the filly this year and we’re staying very positive about it.”
