Debs storms home in mares hurdle

Royal Debs sprang a minor shock (14/1) when running out a cosy seven length winner of the mares hurdle at Downpatrick.

Robbie Dunne hit the lead two out on the Suzzane Cox-trained runner and she powered clear to collect in good style.

"We quietly fancied her but she has been a long time winning. She did have some back problems but seems to be 100 per cent now," said Cox.

"She was in the handicap today and we were raging she didn't get in as she was balloted out."
