Distinctive & Flicker going for Ballyogan gold Bryan Smart is confident the drop in trip will not trouble Distinctive as she travels across the Irish Sea to contest the Ballyogan Stakes at Leopardstown tomorrow. The daughter of Tobougg won twice as a juvenile and after showing promise to finish sixth in the Nell Gwyn on her seasonal reappearance, she ran a fantastic race in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket coming home fifth. "I thought she ran a cracker in the Guineas and we were well pleased with her," said Smart. "Everyone made a big thing of the draw after the race and obviously it can make a difference, but you've still go to run up to your form. "In her prep race she ran too free and acted a bit silly really, but she was much better in the Guineas and we were delighted. "She's dropping back to six furlongs but I think she showed enough speed last year to suggest that shouldn't be a problem. "The form of her win over six at Ayr last year is good and the horse that was fourth that day (Beyond Desire) runs again tomorrow." "It could be one-all after tomorrow or it could be two-nil, we'll just have to wait and see." "It looks as though there'll be a bit of juice in the ground, which will be fine, so I'm hoping for a very big run." Kevin Prendergast is hopeful of a prominent showing from Velvet Flicker following her fifth place finish behind Markab in the Greenlands Stakes last month. "She's in good shape and ran a good race in the Greenlands to finish fifth," said Prendergast. "She came home well that day having missed the break a bit so hopefully everything will go right for her tomorrow and she'll be there or thereabouts." A total of 10 runners are due to go to post for the Group Three contest with Gilt Edge Girl and Beyond Desire joining Distinctive on the trip from Britain. David Wachman's Glorified and recent winner Miss Gorica are other major contenders.
