John Gosden is looking to run next year’s Guineas and Derby favourite Too Darn Hot in the Howcroft Industrial Supplies Champagne Stakes at Doncaster on St Leger day.

The September 15 Group Two is the “logical target” according to the Clarehaven handler, who was not present at Sandown to see the colt romp to victory in the Solario Stakes.

Group One races were predicted by Frankie Dettori in the aftermath but Gosden is preferring to take it one step at a time.

“I think the Champagne at Doncaster is the logical target for him — there’s a two-week gap, so that works out pretty well — and that’s probably where we’ll head,” Gosden told the Daily Mirror.

“There is the National Stakes at the Curragh, but it closed in June and he wasn’t put in that, because he hadn’t even done a piece of work by then.

“If that goes well, then we’ve got options in October.”
